Palm Springs
Enjoy the unique landscape that Palm Springs offers its visitors. Remember to beat the heat, Stay Hydrated!
Palm Springs, a must visit winter destination within the Colorado Desert's Coachella Valley, has lots to offer in terms of landscape, views and special treats. Entering the Palm Desert, you are welcomed by an array of windmills. Watching the sun set amidst these is definitely a memory you will cherish. The town is specifically known for its resorts, spas and golf courses, so treat yourself by checking in at one.
An evening stroll along the Downtown Palm Springs would present to you a lot of food, desert, shopping and coffee options. With its super quick service and lots of menu items to choose from, Lulu California Bistro is super for dinner with your family. Another way to cool down from the desert heat is by visiting Great Shakes. The place offers a wide range of ice cream shakes. What’s unique here is the donut that’s placed on your straw, definitely authentic and unique, this is one of my favorites!
One of the main attractions of Palm Springs is the Joshua tree National Park. The tree got its name from the Mormon pioneers who thought the tree reminded them of Joshua, from the Old Testament of the Bible, a prophet who was waving them towards Promise Land. Here are some places you can visit in the park.
-
You get to notice unique rock formations all through the park. One such is the Cap Rock. The formation looks as if the rock were wearing a cap from the heat!
-
Offers a picturesque view of the Coachella Valley and the Salton Sea.
-
Take some time for a little scare. The rock looks a lot like the human skull.
-
Ever been to a Cactus Garden? Being one of the main attractions of the park, you get to be amidst Cacti. Just stay on the trail, there could be some jumping ones!
-
The park is one of the best places for star gazing. It’s dark out here, and is located far away from the cities.
For more views into the Palm springs and the Coachella valley, don’t miss out on the Palm Springs Ariel Tramway. The entire experience felt very safe and well maintained. This is one of the largest rotating tramcars that takes you high above the pristine desert wilderness. The ariel tram takes you to the Mt San Jacinto State Park, an altitude of 8000 ft. up the mountain. There are many hiking trails along the park for novice to the expert hikers. Desert View Trail is a moderately easy 1.5-mile hike that offers splendid views along with vanilla and butterscotch aromas of the woods. After your hike, the station hosts the Pines Cafe and the Peaks Restaurant, some good choices for a sumptuous meal.
Although summer isn’t the time, October onwards might be the best time to visit Palm Springs. Definitely, lots of fun activities for hikers, bikers, campers, star gazers and golfers.
