Mt. Shasta

Mt. Shasta, located in the Siskiyou County is an active volcano and the fifth highest peak in the state of California. The area has a high spiritual significance and is believed to be on earth’s ley line. For a single day getaway here, start off at the bunny flat trail head, a quick hike up the hill slopes. This is a great spot for not just breathtaking views of Shasta but some cardio as well.

Next, head to the origin of the Sacramento River, the Headwaters Spring. Remember, the water is ice cold but getting your feet wet is never a bad idea. As you head downward, visit all three McCloud Falls (Upper, Middle and Lower). Access to the upper waterfall isn’t safe, however, the lower falls is easy to get to with a lot of folks cliff jumping.

Looking for uninterrupted views? Head to the Mt. Shasta vista point. This is a great area to relax, meditate and click some great pictures of the serene snowcapped mountains.

Nothing can get better over a visit to the Siskiyou Lake on a full moon evening watching Mt. Shasta from a bench hearing the waters splash in the calm. The area around is undisturbed and offers tons of picturesque sights beautiful for the eyes and memories for the heart!
